Jerome Downey started his fitness training path 15 years ago, concentrating at first on body-building, quickly expanding his interest and knowledge far beyond. He is recognized as one of Garrison and Brooklyn's most respected personal trainers. Jerome studied at the National Academy of Sports Medicine in Calabasas, CA, and received training in a wide variety of topics: anatomy, physiology, nutrition, Yoga, Pilates, meditation, exercise science and sports performance training. Jerome is also a corrective exercise specialist. Jerome's career has since encompassed personal and group training, including working with soccer teams in the U.S. and in Europe. He not only helped the team gain strength and endurance but also improved the players' overall health by implementing a nutritional program that greatly improved the health of the athletes. Jerome owned his own gym but closed it because "it was limiting me, I felt stuck in a box instead of growing, being with people, moving around is great, and makes me feel good as a health and fitness professional, group instructor, and a personal trainer," he says. "My main goal is to inspire others to persevere and excel." For the past five years, Jerome has been improving the lives of many dedicated Brooklyn and Garrison residents. He is selective about the clients he accepts into his training program. He admits that the client is responsible for achieving the results and that it takes an enormous amount of discipline and determination. But Jerome's techniques soften the blow by making workouts fun, challenging, and a bit different each time. Currently Jerome offers group classes and private coaching to adults and children, as well as working with businesses to meet employee fitness goals.About Jerome Downey
