6-Week Class Series Combines Cardio & Strength Training to Get in Shape for Summer

Jerome Downey's next 6-week class series is underway at the St. Basil Academy gym in Garrison, New York. "It's not a boot camp," explains Jerome. "It's an intense workout designed to achieve longevity. My program improves core strength and overall mind and body health." Class times are Mon-Wed-Fri 10:30-11:30am and Tues-Thurs 6:30-7:30pm. Registration is ongoing. Call 845-625-8287. Here's what class members are saying:

"Absolutely love this class! My body is completely transforming. It's an incredibly challenging journey!"--Kara R.

"I've had three c-sections and after each baby, my body has weakened considerably. I am taking the class to regain strength but also to get my body back in motion. Inertia is a cruel mistress. I like that the class is never the same. It is always challenging and I always feel like I am accomplishing something when I finish the class.  I like working out with my peers. They inspire me to keep coming back and keep working hard.  I like that there is not a lot of chit chat and that everyone is focused on the workout."--Doris L.

"As a mother of three, my schedule doesn't allow for spending hours at the gym, so Jerome's class has been an amazing find. His high-intensity sessions combine both strength training and cardio, allowing me to get a full workout in one hour. Results have come quickly. Aside from the much-welcomed weight loss, his floor work has been very effective in strengthening my core and lower back, which is especially important for me having had twins just 18 months ago!"--Paige G.

"I like the camaraderie, and the routines that Jerome comes up with are a great workout. I can get a lot out of only one hour, which is really key for me since I'm working with two kids. I'm also seeing serious results. I want to feel strong and look good in a bathing suit!"--Ivy M.

  1. What can I say about Jerome that would do justice to his talent. Let me start with telling you that I worked out pretty regularly but have never seen results like I have since I started working out with him. I felt like my body was at a standstill and no matter how much i tried, I couldnt get it to change, especially after baby #2. That was all before I started working out with Jerome. He is tough, the hour you spend with him is hard and will test you. But you will see your body change. He is strong, balanced and very knowledgable. As a doctor I was very impressed with his knowledge of muscle groups anatomy, and nutrition and his holistic approach to fitness. He evaluates your strengths and weaknesses and tailors the workouts to your body to get it to where you want to be. No exaggeration, he is the best trainer I have ever worked out with.

  2. I first met Jerome in early April. I came to him in decent shape (I could run a half marathon in 8 minute miles and had been doing some weight training at a gym) but before the first class he asked me, as he does everyone, what my goals were. I replied that I had seen a photo of me running a race and I was disappointed to see the “flabby bits” that still remained after giving birth 10 months before. He immediately replied that he could fix that. I took his first Body Language class and immediately cancelled my gym membership. Every person that tries his class gets hooked. He uses light weights and you do tons of reps and move at a very fast pace. Within one month my friends saw results. Within 2 months I compared before and after photos and was astonished at the transformation. Jerome changed my “body builder” body to a runner’s body. I kept the same diet (I don’t cut carbs or ‘juice’ or fast but consume everything in moderation) and haven’t lost pounds but my body has changed thanks to Jerome and Body Language. Do I have more work to do? Yes? Am I confident that I will continue to get in better shape? Yes. I highly recommend Jerome to anyone regardless of their fitness level. His years of hands on experience and training make him hands down the best trainer and teacher around.

  3. Exercise gives me energy, endurance and balance to maintain my busy life style. I’ve been taking classes and exercising on my own for several years now, but Jerome’s classes are something special -- they kick my butt, they’re challenging and they’re fun (thanks to his upbeat personality, his “take no prisoners” attitude and a great playlist)!

After taking his classes in June I decided to add personal training with Jerome to my workout routine, I love strength training, but I never enjoyed cardio, so I would find any excuse to avoid it. After Jerome saw me struggle with doing it on my own, he developed a way to incorporate cardio into my workouts – I benefited from the cardio without even having to think about it -- what a brilliant idea! Jerome took the time to develop a customized program that addressed my personal requirements rather than coaching me through a standard one-size-fits-all routine.

The program he created for me has taken my training and results to another level. In terms of strength training I went to work out by myself after just 1 month of training with Jerome and I was really stunned to find that my “usual” weight , that I had been doing on my own for months was now much too light for me!

If you like to measure results by the numbers, in the last 3 month since I’ve been training with Jerome I lost 9 pounds, 4 inches off my hips and 3 inches off my waist.

If you are bored with the same old routine you’ve stuck with for years and are looking for a new challenge or want to become stronger, have more energy, look fantastic and improve the quality of your life – then seriously consider personal training with Jerome!

I know everybody says “it’s tough economy”, but this is an investment in yourself that will give you a better return on your money than you could ever get in the market!
